CASA BVLOS OCTA Exam Training & SORA Development

Instruction will be guided by CASA Standards of Knowledge for BVLOS OCTA, topics will cover:

Privileges and limitations of the BVLOS rating, RPA instruments, radios, and equipment, Meteorology relevant to BVLOS operations, BVLOS operations, Operations outside of controlled airspace (OCTA), Navigation with global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), Human factors relevant to BVLOS operations.

This is a full course directed towards individuals who require a more extensive understanding of BVLOS OCTA flight operations. 

  • Privileges and Limitations of the BVLOS Rating
  • Operations Outside Controlled Airspace (OCTA)
  • Weather for short and long-range flight, high-altitude weather, and for long endurance UAS
  • Human Performance and Limitations for BVLOS flights for both the individual and flight crew including human-machine interface also known as “pilot in the loop”
  • UAS Performance Issues including high altitude flights, weather extremes and weight and balance for UAS with interchangeable payloads and weight variations during flight
  • Radios and UAS Equipment for BVLOS
  • Operations in and around Controlled and non-controlled aerodromes 
  • BVLOS Operational Considerations
  • Real-world considerations for flight planning and practical examples
  • CASA Standard Scenario Document Development

  • Your Remote Operations Manual and cover any specialised roles you will operate as such as night, BVLOS, above 400ft and operations in and around controlled and uncontrolled aerodromes.
  • Scenarios to work through to help you understand what is required prior to conducting specialised flights.
  • The roles and responsibilities within your Drone business whether you’re going to be a sole trader or something bigger.
  • A mock interview to ready you for the CASA Chief Remote Pilot interview. 

Our consultation service can also assist with preparing documents and forms for the CASA ReOC approval including the Remote Operations Manual and any additional documentation you require for your operations.
