OUR COMPANY

Quality, Safety & Excellence

At Advanced Drone Training, we’re passionate about providing the highest quality BVLOS training and consultancy services in Australia. With a singular focus on RPAS aviation, we’re able to produce the most advanced and skilled BVLOS pilots possible.

Our consultancy services are available to any industry and cover everything from CASA BVLOS standard scenarios and aviation planning to onsite inspections, stakeholder engagement, and document development for area approvals. We pride ourselves on delivering the best possible advice and logistics to our clients.

As technology advances and RPAS capabilities grow, there’s an increasing need for pilots to fly further and longer. With enhanced imaging and sensing capabilities, the gap between what an RPAS can do and what a pilot is capable of is growing. At Advanced Drone Training, we recognize this training deficiency as a threat to the safety of both crewed and uncrewed aviation.

That’s why we’ve made it our mission to provide the most advanced BVLOS training available. By exposing flight crews to cutting-edge training techniques and technologies, we aim to develop a culture of quality, safety, and excellence in the industry.

With our expert guidance, you can take your drone career to new heights and ensure you’re equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in this rapidly growing field.

Meet Our Chief Remote Pilot

David Farrell

David's Philosopy

“I believe that RPAS pilots should receive the most advanced BVLOS training possible, which parallels the quality and standard of crewed aviation, thus developing a culture of quality, safety and excellence”

Advanced Drone Training was developed by Chief Remote Pilot, David Farrell. With over twenty years of comprehensive aviation experience, an exemplary safety record and a keen interest in uncrewed operations David had the vision to write and design a BVLOS course with the same standard of training as crewed aviation to produce a more competent and effective RPAS pilot.

David’s experience began in the RAAF as a Captain on the PC9, C-130 Hercules and C-17A Globemaster. This was followed by a captain’s position for the Australian Maritime Safety Authority on the Challenger CL604 performing search and rescue and airdrop operations. David is currently a commercial Pilot for Qantas, having flown the B787 internationally and currently flies the B737 domestically. His qualifications include; Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating (MECIR/IREX), Air Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL), Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL) and Remote Operators Certificate (ReOC).

David’s interest in uncrewed aircraft originated from extensive experience in human performance and limitations, observations during multi-crew operations and threat and error management. Having held supervisory and consultancy roles in RAAF aviation he understands the importance and benefits of delivering the most advanced training possible.
